Ghanaian youth care about democracy and want to actively contribute but space must be created for them to enable them do this properly.
More especially young women who express significantly less interest in public affairs than young men. Leadership is very paramount to national development, therefore, our leaders must make time to mentor women and create enough space for women leadership in the country.
Despite the challenges some women go through, others are determined to lift the bar of women in leadership.
With regards to that, Change Agent Media as part of our core mandate, is celebrating youth in leadership who are performing extraordinarily.
Miss Regina Okyere Darko is an ambitious, inspirational and motivational young woman with passion for humanity and is from a family of five.
She is from Asante Bekwai where she started her basic education at Adventist preparatory school, Bekwai. She continued her education at St Anthony’s R/C JHS, Bantama where she completed and furthered her secondary education at Aduman SHS, within Afigya Kwabre District.
She is currently a student of the University of Education-Winneba, Kumasi campus where she is reading a programme in Bsc. Accounting education.
Ms Darko is a hard working and innovative young woman who is committed to duty. She has led many young people to reach their goals in life.
Since she desires to make impact, she has held several positions on campus including Vice President for PENSA at SHS and the Music Directoress in University.
She has mentored several young women and empowered them to hold many leadership roles in other to bring out the change they would want to see in their various society. With regards to women Advocacy, she was the Women’s Commissioner for NUBS, Executive member and Sponsorship Chairperson for NUGS Local.
Her passion for humanity is incredible, therefore she goes the extra mile to deliver as she changes lives. She is the Co- founder of an organisation called Mirror Foundation.
Ms. Darko is very strong and bold to make women leadership easy and simple. Due to her hard work as a member of Universal Light Media (UNILIME) Foundation, an NGO committed to humanitarian activities, appointed her as the National Public Relation Officer (PRO) for UNILIME foundation after serving as the Regional PRO for the organisation.
The leadership of the organisation were so much convinced that, she could work at the national level where she has organised several successful programmes.
According to her, she wants to bring out the best in everyone she encounters. Even though, women in leadership role is very challenging as the society claims, yet she still believe in initiating the change she wishes to see in her community and the world at large as well as the people around her.
She has volunteered for several Organisations and organised mentorship programmes for several schools at her cost.
She has been a delegate to several diplomatic conferences and other conferences including ECOWAS summit, Ghana think foundation- bar camp and junior camp.
She is aiming at becoming a great tutor who will impact her students positively and transform their lives through her teaching.
During her leisure time, she brainstorm a lot to find solutions to the problems around her.
Ms. Darko is very hard working, passionate and committed to duty who has achieved a lot to her credit.
