The Head Pastor of Lifeline Assemblies of God, Rev. Jacob Botchway has advised fellow Christians to express their gratitude to God, despite the predicaments they face in life.
This, he explained, is an absolute remedy to anxiety, thus, combating the diverse negative effects associated with anxiety on individuals’ spiritual and physical well beings.
The Reverend Minister made this known while presenting a sermon themed “Defeating Anxiety” last Sunday in Accra.
Quoting from Philippians 4:6–7, the man of God said, be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
According to him, sometimes Christians go through several challenges which stress them to the extent that, they hardly get time to pray. But, the best such people could do is to sing praises to God.
“In times of difficulties and challenges, begin to sing praises to His holy name and God will hear you and take off your burden. Sing songs that will bring the Holy Ghost down” he said.
Additionally, he divulged that, thanksgiving acknowledges God as the source, therefore, Christians must believe in God and sing praises to His name. The man of God stressed that, Christians should also learn to know and understand the will of God in their lives as they pray.
Using the story of Jabez as an instance, the man of God advised Christians on how to pray and indicated that, when praying, their requests should be specific.
Rev. Botchway encouraged Christians to pray every morning once they wake up from the bed because “it is a miracle for us to go to bed and wake up the next day. We should not take it for granted at all because it is not guaranteed for us to sleep and wake up every morning. Therefore, we must be grateful to God in all circumstances.”
Touching on the importance of thanksgiving, Rev. Botchway who is also the Assemblies of God, Kaneshie District Treasure, encouraged that, anytime God does something in a special way for Christians, they should learn to sow seeds by putting money in envelopes as appreciation to God.
“It is good to thank God anytime He does something for you through your marriage, family, education and business. You need to appreciate God because anytime you do, you enter into His presence and through thanksgiving, you find peace, joy as well as blessings.”
The man of God stressed that nothing should prevent Christians from exuding their gratitude to God because He relentlessly works in all areas of their lives and favour them.
The Head Pastor motivated Christians to keep praying no matter how long their requests delay because God works in times and seasons and thus, when one’s prayer request is not answered, they should not give up because God would surely answer it in His own time.
Emphasizing that, even in their difficult times and challenges, they must acknowledge and thank God, for He knows what is best for His children.
