HYPERTENSION: The silent killer
As common as hypertension/high blood pressure has become, its management is still a heinous task for many. Nearly one third of African adults have high blood pressure or hypertension. Factors contributing to high blood pressure includes stress and lack of exercise.
Having high blood pressure increases your risk for several health problems: heart attack, stroke, heart failure, kidney disease, vision loss and metabolic syndrome (a cluster of conditions that increases the risk of heart diseases, diabetes, etc)
Garlic has the ability to lower your blood pressure by causing your blood vessels to relax and dilate, thus allowing blood to flow more freely.
Also, exercising in moderation, adequate rest and sleep, cutting down on consumption of high sodium products helps in minimizing the risk of high blood pressure.
